Takeaway
Mental health is a mediator between COVID-19-associated self-stigmatization & post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and poor health-related quality of life & insomnia.
Why this matters ?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, people may experience mental health distress (e.g. PTSD, self-stigma, sleep disorders), which may have longer-term psychosocial complications (e.g. social isolation, brief unemployment).
A mediation model can offer insight into how independent factors may operate through a ‘mediating’ factor – mental health – to influence dependent variables, such as quality of life (QoL) and insomnia.
