New insights into evolution of tau pathology and cortical atrophy in AD

Specialists have reported new findings on the progression of tau neurofibrillary tangle pathology and cortical atrophy in patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

The researchers, from the Karolinska Institutet, in Solna, Sweden, used positron emission tomography (PET) to study tau pathology, and structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI) to assess cortical atrophy, in a total of 383 patients included in the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) database.
